Surfaces

Posted on September 16, 2014 by coloredpencils Posted in General Information .

How soon will we know what surface to use for current project.  Special surfaces like several of the artists use will require to be ordered and that usually take a week and half to two weeks to get it ordered, mailed and received?  Will we get notification of the supplies we need several weeks before the schedule workshop?

Just thinking ahead of myself and wondering how this will work.  I had joined a Tradition School a couple of years ago.  By the time I received my paint (because it was out of stock & took 3 1/2  weeks to get the paint) the class had moved on to the next thing and I was very disappointed and just gave up.  Now I have all this paint that I just hate and plan of throwing it away.

I don’t want this to  happen here in the colored pencil group.  I love colored pencil and have been in classes with several of you so I think this will be a better situation.  I several lines of pencils but the surfaces are a different thing.

    Hi Julie,
you will have 12 months to paint the January project, as an example, and you may already have a lot of the colored pencils. Each class will be complete, no moving on and they will stay online until December 31 2015. The last 3 months of classes will all be online October 1 2015, so you don’t have to rush your way through the December project. Hope that helps?

There is also a PDF of suggested supplies on the classroom page.

    Hi Julie:
I posted some of the surfaces on the classroom page underneath each project. I hope this helps.

I downloaded the Basic CP Supply List but couldn’t see anything about battery operated sharpeners. I have several hand held sharpeners and was wondering if I needed a battery operated one and if so can you recommend one that you use.

Hi Carole, Battery operated sharpeners are usually only required for classes where plugging in electric sharpeners would be a problem. Most of us use an electric sharpener, and hand held for putting the point back on, at home. Hope that helps?

Hi Carole: As Marian said since you are working at home it is best to use an electrical sharpener. My favorite sharpeners are Panasonic. You can get them used at Ebay. I hope this helps.
