I have always loved creative arts. As a young child I spent countless hours with my coloring books and crayons. Drawing didn’t come naturally to me and I found art classes in school frustrating, so for many years I channeled my creative energies through needlework and embroidery. About 30 years ago, I was introduced to decorative painting and was immediately “hooked”. The methods that decorative artists use, sharing their patterns and step by step instructions, allowed me to develop my artistic talents.
I started taking oil painting classes at a local Decorative painting shop. From there I joined the Society of Decorative Painters and a local chapter, where I became involved with New England Traditions decorative painting conference. My membership with these organizations has offered countless opportunities to expand my skills.
A few years ago I took a class in colored pencils at New England Traditions. It was love at first pencil stroke. I immediately got the full set of Prismacolor pencils and began expanding my knowledge of the medium. I soon found myself designing and teaching to local chapters.
I have lived in Connecticut my entire life. My family, two Welsh Springer Spaniels and quilting are the other passions in my life. I am fortunate to be able to spend summers on our boat on the Mystic River. You will often find me sitting on the back deck, enjoying the view, while working on a colored pencil painting.
